Abstract
In the last decades, two north-american scholars, profesors Diana de Armas Wilson and Mary M. Gaylord, have promoted a new critical interpretation of Cervantes’ life and works. According to them, Cervantes was an indiano as well as an americanist writer. In these pages, the oldest papers promoting such unlikely hypothesis, delivered in 1986 and 1995 by Gaylord, are reviewed and refuted in detail.
