Abstract

This article annalyzes both from a historical and literary perspective the survival of Calderón de la Barca´s plays during the eighteenth century in chapbook format. Those chapbooks contained parts of his most successful plays which were also continuously performed during the same century. The article analyzes the main subject of some of these plays (chapbooks) in order to determinate the reasons why they became so popular in eighteenth-century popular culture.
